Karina is a landscape artist living and working in Dorset. Her work inhabits the quiet threshold between presence and disappearance, a suspended moment when the day thins, and the inner world emerges.
Working with a limited palette, Karina builds her surfaces slowly, layering translucent veils of colour until a luminosity begins to emerge from within. Light in her work gathers gently through tonal shifts and softened edges, creating expansive, atmospheric landscapes that feel both intimate and unbound.
Rather than describing a specific place, her paintings evoke the sensation of one; a remembered field at dusk, a road fading into mist, the quiet hush before night fully arrives. Subtle transitions of colour and tone carry the emotional weight of passing time, inviting the viewer into a space that is at once external and deeply interior.
Karina’s work is concerned with the elusive nature of thresholds: those in-between states where clarity recedes but does not vanish. In these suspended moments, certainty is replaced by trust. The viewer is asked not simply to observe, but to step forward — to walk toward what cannot yet be fully seen.

“It is clear your response to your surroundings are reflected in your work , I see that beauty and so admire your ability to reproduce the emotion one feels in a painting , that I believe is an exceptional and rare skill.”
